Application Fee F.A.Q.

The Graduate Application Fee is one of several requirements needed to complete your application. Frequently, students want more detailed information about payment options and troubleshooting. Here are some of the most commonly asked questions:

Q: How Much is the UIC Graduate Application Fee?

A: The Domestic application fee is $50 USD and the International fee is $60 USD.

[Note – several programs (http://grad.uic.edu/cms/?pid=1000026) do not use the Graduate College application/fee structure]

Q: I didn’t pay by credit card prior to submitting my web application. Should I pay the fee by submitting a new application?

A: No. If this occurs, please send a check or money order drawn from a US bank and made payable to the "University of Illinois". Also include your name as it appears on your application along with your date of birth or US Social Security number. Our address is:

University of Illinois at Chicago
Office of Graduate Admissions
Box 7994
Chicago, Illinois 60680

Q: Do I qualify for an application fee waiver?

A: Possibly. Our Graduate Admissions FAQ has a list of waiver criteria http://www.uic.edu/depts/oar/grad/grad_faq.html#HowToWaiveFee.

Q: I have submitted multiple applications for an upcoming term. Do I need to pay a fee for each one?

A: No. Only a single fee payment is necessary per term, regardless of the number of programs to which you apply.

Q: Is it acceptable to pay with cash?

A: We will accept cash payments. However, due to the potential risk of cash being misplaced in transit, we strongly encourage the use of credit cards (only available prior to submitting web application), checks, and money orders.

Q: Can my fee be paid by a third party?

A: Absolutely. As mentioned above, it is essential to include your name (as it appears on the application) and date of birth on the check so that we can match the payment to your file.
