Spring 2011 International Deadline
The Spring 2011 International Application Deadline is quickly approaching! If you are an international applicant seeking admittance for the spring term, please submit an application by July 15, 2010.
Not all programs at UIC admit to the spring term. Please review your prospective program website for more information regarding admit terms.
More information about the application process can be found on the Graduate College or Admissions website.
I have been "recommended for admission." What does this mean?
While your academic department cannot officially admit you to the university, they can recommend you for admission. This just means that the department is making a recommendation to the Graduate College that you be admitted. Your admission must then be approved by the Graduate College before a decision can be placed on your file.*
Following your recommendation, you can expect to be notified of your decision within a few weeks via postal mail. Keep in mind it can take longer during peak processing times.
Thank you for your patience!
Last Call For Fall 2010 Domestic Applications
The domestic Graduate Application Deadline for the Fall 2010 term is May 15th. The Graduate College application is available on our webpage (http://www.uic.edu/depts/oar/grad/apply_grad_degree.html) and can be initiated at any time up through the 15th. If your program of choice is not available, that is most likely because it had a prior deadline or uses a separate, non-Graduate College application process. Please refer the 'Step 2' on the webpage listed above in order to evaluate such a situation.
Graduate Housing at UIC
If you have already been admitted to UIC for the Fall 2010 term and need a place to live, NOW is the time to start looking at Campus Housing! Campus Housing at UIC offers several types of living styles, including special housing for graduate students.
Graduate Housing is perfect for students who might be living on a tight budget and enjoy having everything they need in one centralized location. There are several advantages to living on-campus such as a lessened commute to classes and easy access to campus facilities. On-campus living also allows the student to meet other graduate students and faculty to network, form study groups, etc.
More information about Graduate Housing can be found on the UIC Campus Housing website (http://www.housing.uic.edu/).

Summer 2010 Nondegree & Certificate Deadlines
The Graduate College application deadlines for the Summer 2010 nondegree and certificate programs are right around the corner. The deadlines are as follows:
Nondegree - April 15
Certificate - April 15
(IBHE & Campus,
Domestic & Int'l)

Account Holds
Have you noticed a hold on your account?
A hold is placed on student accounts when issues need to be resolved on various parts of campus. There are a number of holds that can be placed on accounts to prevent registration, etc., so it is important to learn what type of hold is on your account and to contact that department/office directly to get the issue taken care of.
2009 Holiday Break
To celebrate the upcoming holidays, the Graduate Admissions Office will be closed between Christmas Eve and New Year's.
The Graduate Admissions Office will be closed December 24 thru January 3.
During the break, Admissions Officers will not be able to answer telephone or e-mail inquiries, so it is important for students to remain patient when the office reopens on January 4 as this is our busiest time of year.
~HAPPY HOLIDAYS!~
Thanksgiving and Peak Time
This Thursday and Friday, November 26th and 27th, the Office of Admissions will be closed for the Thanksgiving holiday.
For us, the Thanksgiving holiday marks the beginning of our office’s peak time. During the winter months we receive the bulk of the applications and materials for the following Fall semester.
Application Fee F.A.Q.
The Graduate Application Fee is one of several requirements needed to complete your application. Frequently, students want more detailed information about payment options and troubleshooting. Here are some of the most commonly asked questions:
Q: How Much is the UIC Graduate Application Fee?
A: The Domestic application fee is $50 USD and the International fee is $60 USD.
[Note – several programs (http://grad.uic.edu/cms/?pid=1000026) do not use the Graduate College application/fee structure]
Know Your Application Status
In the Admissions Office we understand a student’s anticipation regarding their admissions decision. We also realize that you may worry if all of your required documents have been received in our office and want to verify with an Admissions Counselor. However you can imagine that we receive numerous amounts of emails and documents on a daily basis, and unfortunately we cannot personally notify each applicant to let them know that their documents have been received.
